Simple Man

A man of simple needs sits – pondering his past.
Searching his soul for damage he might claim
to help him explain,
the turn his life took.

Working tirelessly to support and provide, happy and resolute in his love~
life as he knew it, his reality was
S H A T T E R E D
and he suffered a death.

Not a sensible, understandable death,
one with the decency that is painfully experienced and dealt with, but NO
This death resonates with ongoing hauntings
in his heart and his mind.

Why? Why? He pleads. Why take this life away from me?
BUT- it wasn’t taken.
This man’s life was offered up as a sacrifice, as was his soul,
by a woman with a cold and merciless heart.

Clinging to the strength at his very core,
Grasping onto the love that defines him, He forges on.

Tentative, suspicious, defensive, yet remarkable strong,
this twisted fate riding heavily on his soul.

He fights between vengence and control,
resentment and focus,
holding on or letting go.

Seeking a peace that will restore him,
He focuses again on the positive, attentive and alive.
He sees only the light, his light, burning bright showing him the way.
His most precious gift…all he considers, endures, and reaches out for is for her.
She is the driving force in his life…the one thing that remains true and real.

Persistence pays and time heals all wounds, so they say.Someday, someday.
